RDGA Senior Player of the Year
The 2019 RDGA Senior Player of the Year: Rich Luther
The Rochester District Golf Association began its Senior Player of the Year Award in 2018 as a way of honoring the most consistent championship-level men's senior player of the season.
Designed to recognize and celebrate consistent excellence in the game of golf over the course of a single season, the RDGA Senior Player of the Year is recognized annually at the RDGA Fall Meeting. This recognition is open to all male golfers, ages 55 and above, in the RDGA and is based on gross score results only. To be considered for the RDGA Senior Player of the Year award, golfers must play in at least one RDGA event during the current season.
Earning 2019 RDGA Senior Player of the Year honors was Rich Luther of Stafford Country Club, who won on the strength of a victory in the Senior Tournament of Champions at Blue Heron Hills in June, followed by a win in the RDGA Richard Wood Memorial Senior Best Ball in July. Luther also recorded a fifth place finish in the 2019 RDGA Senior Championship and was a quarterfinalist in the RDGA Senior Match Play Championship.
Beginning this year, there will no longer be a points schedule for any of the five Player of the Year categories. Tracking of player performance will be done internally - with the ultimate decision of who wins Players of the Year honors being made by a select committee of golf community leaders in the Rochester area.
